TECH 101 - Introduction to Technology:
Prerequisites: Entry-level computer skills, basic algebraic ability (exponents, multiplication, etc.)

With technology simultaneously becoming more ingrained and elegant, understanding the concepts behind the interactions will not only help the next generation effectively use it, but also decide whether they should use it and fix it when it doesn.t produce the desired effect. Whether your child is passionate about technology or whether they will simply use it to accelerate their activities in other areas, having a solid understanding is critical. The curriculum will cover the following:

  • Basic electronics and electrical theory
  • Bits, bytes, and binary math
  • Hardware, operating systems, virtualization, containers
  • Networking fundamentals, databases, & storage
  • Internet - Deep Dive
  • Information Security
  • Mobility & Collaboration in a digital world
  • Troubleshooting
  • Ethics & Online Safety

Class time:Monday 9:00AM - 10:15AM (Fall 2016 only)

2017 - Spring
TECH 111 - Multimedia Creation
Prerequisites: Entry-level computer skills, Adobe Photo/Video Editing Software, Windows or Mac laptop with functioning sound card capable of running aforementioned software. Instructions on where to download Audacity and purchase the Student/Teacher version of the Adobe Software ($80) will be provided upon successful enrollment.

As digital media becomes the preferred form of communication, multimedia mastery will give your student the edge, whether creating presentations, reports, movies, or any audio/video project. We.ll explore foundational concepts of photography and photo-editing, sound theory and mixing, and videography and video editing, as well as practical applications and real-world scenarios. In this project-based course, we will be using Adobe Photoshop/Premiere Elements 14 and Audacity.
